Youth Development

Youth are the backbone of any given society thus their role in the development process could not be overemphasized. For this, the state ministry for youth and sports development during the period under review placed high premium on youth mobilization training and above all empowerment with a view to making then to become self-reliance thereby reducing unemployment and crimes amongst our teeming youth.

Some of these achievements.

  • The ministry organized an Albino week during which people living with albinism were supported and provided with sensitization workshop on the dangers of the disease and sun protector creams as well as umbrellas for their good health and safety.
  • The Ministry also organized a workshop for the state drivers on new defensive driving techniques for 200 drivers at the cost of N3,950,000.00
  • The sum of N30, 000,000.00 has been expended towards providing communal self-help development projects materials to the youth clubs and other voluntary organizations across the state. These materials include cements, brooms, head pans, diggers, shovels, rakes etc.
  • Similarly, the sum of N4, 040,000.00 has been used to organize a sensitization workshop for prison inmates in line with national youth policy. This year the theme of the workshop is “an idle mind is a devil’s workshop”. Also provided to the inmates are sanitary and other essential commodities to the prison inmates.
  • Also, the ministry sponsored peace corp officials to attend public hearings at the national assembly, Abuja at the cost of
